AIA RIDE GUIDE

Click on the button above for the Federal Transit Administration. This includes information regarding weight limits and securement of manual and motorized wheelchair devices on accessible buses.

AiA will take an inventory of the mobility device you will use on the bus during booking.  Let us know when you book your trip which mobility device you plan to bring. We will weigh and measure wheelchairs, scooters and motorized wheelchairs to make sure they fit within AiA buses maximum size and weight. You and your wheelchair or scooter must weigh less than 800 pounds

(362 kg), combined.

Person+wheelchair weight combined is subject to bus weight maximum capacity.  For example, if the 10th person's weight +wheelchair is 650 lbs and the bus  has a remaining weight allowance of

450 lbs, AiA would not be able to transport the individual.

AiA is a wheelchair transportation company. To be qualified to ride on the bus all walking individuals with or without mobility assistive devices must be accompanied by a qualified individual who uses any of these equipments such as a manual/motorized wheelchair or scooter who meets the weight and size structure requirements.

All wheelchairs must be securely strapped in place with brakes locked before the bus can take off and while it is in motion.
